The season of giving is soon upon us. Online shopping has made this process less stressful than it was just a few years ago. You’re able to buy gifts as you enjoy your morning coffee instead of trying to find time during your busy schedule to go to the store. This year especially has inspired people to buy their items and gifts online. This means that packages can pile up on the front door. Unfortunately, the weather doesn’t care about your packages and if it starts raining or snowing, there’s going to be damage. What if there was a way your packages could be safely locked away until you’re able to collect them? There is! Amazon has developed a feature for In-Garage Delivery taking the worry about rushing home to get your packs for they get damaged or stolen. Here’s what you need to know:

Amazon Garage Delivery

What is Amazon Garage Delivery?

For Amazon Prime members have access to Key by Amazon. This is a relatively new feature that allows delivery drivers to access your garage through their app. It’s essentially a temporary locker, but it’s in your garage instead of traveling to the local Whole Foods which is affiliated with Amazon. The delivery drivers never have access to keys or the code used for your garage. Everything is done through the app. You can even block access to the garage the day the package is being delivered if you prefer it coming to the door.

Why is this important?

At the moment Amazon is one of if not the only company that does this. It’s not surprising because of how big the company is. With the holidays just around the corner, packages are going to be showing up more and more. With the events of this year, going shopping is going to be even more of a nightmare than previous holiday seasons. Other delivery companies such as UPS and FedEx might see the benefits of securing the packages in the garage to avoid issues.
